How to sell more meditations
Meditation has been on a meteoric rise in western society over the past few years. Millions are taking up meditation as a way to relieve stress and live a healthy lifestyle. As companies look to find a way to tap into this emerging market, many are asking what is the best way to advertise meditation?
For a simple meditation app, of which numerous can be found, the seemingly go-to approach is to talk about all the wonderful health benefits and promise the listener that 30 days with this programme will make them feel reborn.
Now there is nothing wrong with this approach (so long as the programme is legitimate) and I am sure it is very effective. The only problem I have with it is that I feel it leans too heavily on preaching to the choir. If you are trying to sell a meditation app it makes sense that you target someone who is A) in need of some relaxation and B) somewhat already convinced of meditation or at least willing to give new things a try.
Due to the relatively elusive and unconventional perception surrounding mind-based healing, it makes sense that advertisers do not waste their time trying to convince some Red Bull injecting stress eating CEO who believes that popping pills is the smoothest road to success. The average person will not be convinced that meditation works and for a simple reason… it is damn hard!!!
